China is Audi’s largest single market in the world, and Audi has production facilities such as Changchun and Foshan there as part of the FAW-VW joint venture. The Audi China branch is headquartered in Beijing.
Audi China was founded in 2009 as a one-hundred-percent subsidiary of AUDI AG headquartered in Beijing. The company has more than 750 employees and coordinates the business cooperation between AUDI AG, FAW Group and the Joint Venture FAW-Volkswagen. Ms. Gaby-Luise Wüst is the President of Audi China. The business areas of Audi China include Audi China R&D, Brand Management and Sales & Marketing, Digital Business, PR, Corporate Strategy and Planning, Audi China Sourcing, and Quality/Technical Services.
Audi China President
Since April 2018, Gaby-Luise Wüst has been Head of Sales Chinese mainland/Hong Kong at AUDI AG in Ingolstadt and additionally from December 2018 Head of China Product Project Management.
With effect from August 1, 2019 she took up the position of Audi China President.
Changchun, a city of around 7.5 million people, is home to China’s oldest and largest automotive company First Automobile Works (FAW). The production site was established in 1988. At the moment, the Audi A4 L, Audi A6 L, A6L e-tron and Audi Q5 L model lines are being produced here for the Chinese market. End of 2020, the Audi e-tron will also be produced here.

As part of its joint venture with Volkswagen and First Automotive Works (FAW), Audi began running a second production facility in China in late 2013. The Foshan production site is located in Guangdong Province in southern China. The Audi A3 Sportback, the Audi A3 Sedan, the Audi Q2L and the Q2 L e-tron are currently rolling off the production line here for the local market.
Cars produced in 2018
Together with Volkswagen Automatic Transmission Tianjin (VWATJ), Audi is producing high-efficiency 7-speed S tronic transmissions for the new Audi Q3, as well as for other local models in the northern Chinese port city of Tianjin. At the FAW- VW Tianjin Car Plant, Audi has also been producing the new Q3 since 2019. Starting from 2020, the Audi Q3 Sportback is produced here as well.
Gearboxes per year (capacity)
Qingdao is the newest branch in the FAW-VW family. Opened in 2018, this FAW-VW production site is located in Jimo, about 60km away from the modern city center by the sea. Its first Audi model will be the A3 Sportback which starts production here in mid 2020, closely followed by the A3 Sedan in the same year.
Besides car production, the branch also has production facilities for high-voltage batteries. The batteries from Qingdao electrify the VW eBora as well as the Q2 L e-tron, which is built in Foshan.
