Eight Audi entries join record field for 2026 China GT Championship curtain-raiser
• Six Audi teams entered for Shanghai International Circuit season-opener
• Audi R8 LMS GT3 evo II and Audi R8 LMS GT4 evo to compete amongst nine-marque 48-car GT3 and GTS entry
• Round one kicks off April 17 at home of Chinese motorsport

Shanghai, April 17, 2026 – Six Audi teams enter seven Audi R8 LMS GT3 evo IIs and an Audi R8 LMS GT4 evo for the opening round of the 2026 China GT Championship (CGTC) at the Shanghai International Circuit. The record entry includes nine marques and a bumper grid of 48 cars in the GT3 and GTS classes for the season-opener to the five-round championship.

“GT racing in China is going from strength to strength. This is perfectly exemplified with a 48-strong entry for China’s leading national series, China GT Championship,” said Alexander Blackie, Head of Audi Sport customer racing Asia. “With eight Audis in the field, we are one of the most represented manufacturers on the grid, underlining the trust our customers continue to have in our products and services. We look forward to supporting at the Shanghai International Circuit this weekend.”

The four GT3 Am entries are headed by last year’s class runner-up Yang Xiaowei at 610 Racing. This year, Yang will aim to go one better as he joins forces with Han Jingfeng for the season in the team’s Snap-on-backed Audi.

A second 610 Racing Audi R8 LMS GT3 evo II is entered, this time in the Masters Class, for experienced one-make and GT3 driver, and former Audi Sport R8 LMS Cup competitor, Johnson Huang.

The burgeoning championship sees the return of several of its former stars, amongst them Li Dongsheng and Li Donghui who finished 3rd in the GT3 class in 2024 during the series’ former incarnation as the GT Sprint Challenge. Lining up for Climax Racing for their CGTC Am campaign, the pair were overall podium finishers and Am class winners in last year’s Shanghai 8 Hours, and continue to prove formidable opponents in an Audi.

Competitive at the wheels of both the Audi R8 LMS GT3 evo II and Audi RS 3 LMS, Wu Yifan and Liu Zichen are entered by 326 Racing Team. A TCR China regular, Wu earned a top six overall finish in the championship last season, while he and Liu took Audi GT3 class podiums together in both the Sepang 12 Hours and Shanghai 8 Hours last year.

The fourth Am squad sees Jackson Chuang Chishun team up with Su Yanming at LEVEL Motorsports.

Joining 610 Racing’s Huang in the Masters Class are Incipient Racing’s Xiao Min and Wang Wencheng. Xiao was the class winner in his two CGTC races last season to put him second in the final Masters standings.

Xing Yanbin and Ray Wu switch teams for the 2026 season, lining up for 33R Harmony Racing. The pair contested the opening CGTC round last year, taking a Masters Class podium in each of the races to classify third in the final standings. 326 Racing Team enters a second Audi for the season-opener, this time an Audi R8 LMS GT4 evo, for He Baifeng and Lu Yiqin. He returns to the track where he earned points in the final round last season, his sole CGTC outing of the year.

The 2026 CGTC looks to be the most competitive in its history, with a total of 57 entries across the GT3, GTS and GTC classes for round one. The 28-strong GT3 class will have two stand-alone qualifying sessions followed by two, 56-minute plus one lap races. Likewise, separate sessions and races will be held for the combined GTS and GTC entries, creating an action-packed weekend of GT competition.

Free practice sessions on Friday, April 17 will be followed by qualifying on Saturday, with the opening GTC/GTS race starting at 14:25 and the GT3 race one following at 15:55. GTC/GTS race two gets underway at 11:20 on Sunday, following by GT3 at 14:30 (all times UTC+08:000.

Following the Shanghai season-opener, CGTC travels to China’s Ningbo International Speedway for round two from May 22-24. Round three will be held at the Greater Bay Area’s Zhuhai International Circuit, before the series returns to Shanghai for round four from September 4-6. The final round will be a ground-breaking flyaway as the championship leaves China and heads to Malaysia’s Sepang International Circuit for the season finale from November 6-8.
