Shanghai, September 28, 2026 – 610 Racing’s GT3 Silver Am squad of Roy Tang, Steven Zhou, Yang Xiaowei and Luo Kailuo acquitted themselves superbly to take their Audi R8 LMS GT3 evo II to a well-deserved second place class podium and top-seven overall finish in the 2026 Shanghai 8 Hours after 220 gruelling laps of the 5.451km Shanghai International Circuit. There were also class podium honours for the Audi R8 LMS GT4 when 326 Racing Team’s Liu Ning, Wang Yunpeng, Dong Junbo and Xu Keming finished third in the GTS Am category amongst the quality 25-strong international field.
The 326 Racing Team GT3 Am line-up of Liu Zichen, Shen Jian, Han Jingfeng and Wu Yifan just missed out on a class podium in thirteenth overall, ahead of Harmony Racing’s Silver Am entry of Lawrence Lau, Simon Chan, Ryan Wong Siuyin and Shaun Thong Weifung. The Aerion Racing by Incipient Pro/Am crew of Dai Yuhao, Yang Yuanhao, Cao Zhuo and Xiao Min faced a challenging race, but took the chequered flag fifth in class having successfully completed the marathon race run in changeable track conditions and under constant threat of downpours.
On a damp track but with a slicks-shod field, Steven Zhou took the opening stint in the #610 Audi R8 LMS GT3 evo II from P8. However, he dropped down the order after being clattered by a rival who later received a drive-through penalty for the incident. That put Zhou down the order to P14, but he immediately mounted an eye-catching comeback drive.
Shaun Thong was on the move when the field was released in the Silver Am #6 Harmony Racing Audi, gaining six places from a P16 start. Thong took advantage of an early-race Full Course Yellow (FCY) to pit and hand over to Simon Chan. Xiao Min was another to make an early pit stop, handing over the Pro/Am Aerion Racing by Incipient Audi to Yang Yuanhao.
As black clouds formed overhead, the #610 610Racing Audi lay third overall with Yang Xiaowei at the wheel, leading the Silver Am class. Further down the order in P13 and in Am podium contention was Shen Jian in the #50 326 Racing Team Audi, despite picking up a ten-second penalty, ahead of Lawrence Lau in the #6 Harmony Racing car and Cao Zhuo in the Pro/Am Aerion Racing by Incipient Audi. Boxed in by a backmarker, Tang was eventually overhauled following a crowd-pleasing, side-by-side battle. Despite a subsequent spin, Tang held on the to the class lead, before making a stop and continuing on in ninth overall, third in class.
Heading into his second consecutive stint, Tang once again came under fire and showed his mettle once again, defending well before ultimately conceding the position but remaining firmly in Silver Am podium contention.
